Pure and SimpleFriday, 24th March 2006 :
It was a warm but rainy morning. Alyaa was supposed to be in school by approximately 9.30 am to sit for her Statistics 2 mock exam paper. She got out of bed at eight, bathed and cleaned herself by half-past and was ready to rock-and-roll by nine. However, the rain did not seem endurable at the time and so she decided to wait for it to subside a little. Thankfully, fifteen minutes later the rain had turned into drizzle and with only another quarter of an hour to spare, she set out in a hurry to college. Little did she know what the Gods had in store for her. (A gentle reminder that Alyaa cycles to school and everywhere else, thank you)
It may seem not too big a deal but when Alyaa arrived at her first cross junction, her balance started to wobble. As she was making her way across the intersection, a sudden force had decided to pull her athwart and bam! she fell on her left rear right while she was smack in the middle of the road. Man, did it hurt. She had no time whatsoever to dwell upon it of course as it was Panic! At the crossroads. Luckily, there were no vehicles present at the occurrence. Alyaa picked herself, her bag, her bicycle lock and finally her mountain bicycle up and completed the crossing on foot. There was a woman in her mid-twenties cycling a few metres behind Alyaa and who was there to witness it all. She potrayed genuine concern and kindly offered help. However, Alyaa politely declined. She is perfectly fine now except that her basket is now in a deformed shape, her seat is slightly crooked and her left leg shows preceding signs of bruises.

The actual picture of the junction I had to traverse.
Sighs.Mercifully, it was not an omen that indicated the rest of the day.The exam went okay (even if done badly, it was the written content that counts. E.g. I didn’t leave anything blank). I accompanied Bon chic to the city centre after to acquire herself an iPod Nano, got me-self an Iced Chocolate from Starbucks and had a fun lunch. And of course it was Ms. Shein Shanin’s birthday to boot so there was a much-needed celebratory vibe back in college in the afternoon.
The night started out at a quarter to twelve. To our disappointment, Arun, Desmond and I couldn’t get into Soul Tree where Shein was already at due to ID and age problems so we headed to Istanbul (Turkish Joint, duhh) instead to get something to eat. We were joined later by the birthday girl and gang. There, rounds of laughter, cam-whoring and gossip updates ensued. The night/early morning was, however uneventful, really great fun. An evening out with amusing company and good food more than made up for a night of dancing missed. Come to think of it, I am actually quite happy that the night turned out as such.
Okay, now back to work. Tomorrow is Ting’s birthday. PS: 24th March was my daddy's birthday too! I rang him at One a.m. my time on the day whilst he was on his way to work. I love my baba. :)
