Poetry in Motion
I have a confession to make. Not that I feel guilty about it or anything but I have been following this TV program, Still Come Dancing (on BBC 1) faithfully for the past two months (the season had come to an end a week ago). For those who do not know, Still Come Dancing is, lo and behold its title, a dance competition where British celebrities contend against one another alongside their professional partners, who are also their dance trainers.
The celebrity participants ranged from athletes to TV presenters to actors. Quite an interesting mix I must say. I never knew TV presenters were so well recognised here in Britain. Well, anyway, I have just viewed the Christmas Special and I was simply reminded of why I found the show incredibly appealing. I thought it might be worth sharing too. :)
Girls, can you imagine having a boyfriend who has the ability to whisk you off your feet literally and gracefully at the same time. This show illustrates exactly that and attracts women everywhere with unfulfilled wishes of the like. *laughs. The routines performed on the show were all either Ballroom or Latin you see. [Traditional dances which have disappeared from the mainstream for quite some time now. Nonetheless, it is rapidly becoming hip again.] Each and every one of them oozed elegance and sexiness; except for the clumsy and incapable celebrities of course (there were many funny moments, almost equal to those you see during auditions of So-and-so Idol).

Some of the performances were full of love and romance, some were classy and technical and some just raunchy and alluring. All absolutely beautiful to watch. The first thing that came into my mind was how it resembled an actual relationship. The routine lasts for a period of three minutes (which explains short-lived relationships), the love between the couple is sometimes fictitious, a certain amount of acting is involved and the presentation of lust is taken advantage of. On top of that, you have to work astoundingly hard at it. Even so, the outcome and rewards received after makes it all worthwhile. Nothing is better than having people look at you with admiration and envy.I suppose my already existent interest in dancing may be the root cause of my loyalty to this show. I must mention that it is a form of reality TV as well, thus clarifies the addiction. The celebrities all turned out as dancers to some degree and I could daydream of the ways in which I will be lifted off by my partner in the company of a live jazz band in the future ;). On that cheerful note, I would like to wish everyone celebrating Christ s birth a very Merry Christmas.
